CFMG, NCMG, Certifier for NCGIA

Rachel Diller is the owner, consultant, and groomer of Urban Sophisticats in Historic Downtown Littleton, Colorado.  She is a Nationally Certified Master Groomer, Certified Feline Master Groomer and an approved trainer and Certifier for National Cat Groomers Institute of America.  Starting out young, having a love for animals since she was a wee lass.  At least, that is how her family puts it.  Coming from an animal based childhood; with horses, dogs, birds, reptiles, cats and several other animal species; she has a broad view of animal care.  Rachel has worked with several top companies, such as the Kong Company and Best Friends Pet Care.  She mentored under the best breeders and handlers with top ranking dogs and cats to bring to you the skill and knowledge, in working with your pets, to achieve the best possible grooming experience.

Rachel has been breeding and showing English Mastiffs since 1998. She’s owned Afghan Hounds, Persians and currently, Oriental Shorthairs.  Of course, the numbers always vary depending on who is coming and going.  Her affinity for animals grows with every chance she has to make a difference in any of their lives.

As for her cat grooming history, she has always offered those services in every shop, clinic or boarding facility she has worked for.  The skills came natural to her and her passion to groom them became obvious as time went on.  One day, she read an article about Dog Grooming vs Cat Grooming by Danelle German.  This article talked about different skills involved with grooming dogs and how those same types of skills may or may not apply to cats.  They are two different species and need to be treated that way.  MOST groomers that do offer cat grooming apply their dog grooming techniques to get the job finished.  That article is what motivated Rachel to complete her Certified Feline Master Grooming education.  She has been professionally and expertly trained to groom cats and loves every second of it!

If this is not what you’re looking for, because you own a dog, Rachel also owns The Poodle Shop in Littleton.  About one mile away!  For more information, you can go to www.thepoodleshop.net.

Shain McCormick

Groomer

Shain has been grooming cats ever since Rachel forced his hand. Now, he’ll never have it any other way. When opening Urban Sophisticats, he provided much of the labor to remodel and get things going for Rachel. Her ideas, his man strength – and they got it done.

He has helped at numerous workshops and was even deemed worthy by Danelle German herself. Shain absolutely loves working with cats and helping them feel their best! When he is not grooming cats, he actually operates his own business – Behind Bars Braaap Shop. An extreme sports repair shop with the focus mainly falling onto dirtbikes as that is his passion.

Makenna Long

Groomer

Makenna was born and raised in Nebraska and moved to Colorado in early 2020. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries & Wildlife with an emphasis in Zoo Animal Care. Shortly after, she was introduced to the grooming world and fell in love right away! She enjoys grooming dogs of all breeds, as well as cats. Her favorite part of being a groomer is getting to know each and every pet and developing a bond! In her free time, Makenna enjoys hanging out at home with her boyfriend, AJ, their dog Jack, and their 6 cats, riding dirt bikes, and trying new restaurants.

Brandie Lafleur

Groomer’s Assistant

I have always had a lifelong love for animals. I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design & Advertising although I applied for the receptionist position for Rachel’s other location. I was trying to get into an industry I could enjoy and work my magic from there. She quickly saw my potential and asked how I’d feel about becoming a cat groomer. I can’t believe my heart still led me to pursue a career with clients of the “fluffy” variety. I am currently training to become a CFMG. All the cats I get to work with are treated with patience and understanding during the grooming process. As if they were my own! Every day is new and exciting and I’m learning the ropes quickly.

Born and raised in Houston, TX and now living here in Colorado with my Canadian husband, Justin. We are also owned by two cats, Callie and Marble.

“I took Snookie in for grooming as she sheds so much. She looks wonderful! So soft! Shedding is under control. Thanks Rachel!”
